Red Tides

Red Tide is caused by dinoflagellates, and cause toxins in the water that harm fish and other living animals. This studied found that red tide can have a lingering effect on marine animals. It was found that the toxins can live in some animal life and plant life that the mammals feed on and then passing the lethal toxin to the mammal. This has been linked to high mortality rates for marine mammals.




Drifting Plastic Cycle

The drifting plastic has many negative affects on the environment, but one effect that this article shows is the capability that the drifting plastic can have on transporting HAB species. HAB species are harmful algae that can live in the water. This article shows how the plastic can protect and harbor these species for transport and further growth. The plastic gives HAB species easy transport and protection from the weather and other conditions.



El Nino

El Nino has thought to been effected by climate change. This article test to see if El Nino existed in the Ice Age. They found that it did exist but also discovered that it has been stronger in the recent times of history. They do not come to the conclusion though that the climate has a direct effect on the event strengthening.
